Welcome to my blog and thanks soso much for spending a little while peeping into my world

ARTS, BELLYDANCING, CRAFTS
BELLYDANCING, ARTS, CRAFTS
CRAFTS, BELLYDANCING, ARTS

whichever order I put them in, these are my passion!

... all from my little home studio in Durban, on the east coast of sunny South Africa!

SUPREME SCRAP TOURNAMENT - CARD CHALLENGE 1

I am  member of the South African team on the Supreme Scrap Tournament CARD CHALLENGE and he first challenge is to create an ATC and these are the rules  (for those unfamilar with an ATC - ARTIST TRADING CARD - the size is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches)

- There has to be a title/quote/wish on the card

- You can not use any spray inks or flowers

- You can not use any kind of cutting machine

- You can not use any image with a house on it (that is a challenge huh!!!) - in fact they would prefer no house at all

This is my entry

To create this ATC I started off with an offcut of brown cardstock just smaller than 2.5" x 3.5 "

I covered it in a fair amount of gesso and sprinkled it with fine crystal glitter. I waited until it was almost dry, but till soft, and then a snowflake embossing folder was used over the gesso to create some texture, and in lifting off the embossing older, some of the gesso came away too, revealing the brown CS underneath = textured distressed look.  I chalked/distressed the edges, I curled the corners while the gesso was still soft  and left it to dry and harden  completely.

fast forward 36 hours .....

I printed out five airmail envelopes, fussy cut them and chalked the edges.  They were tied up with a length of string and a little metal heart attached

The lettering was created in MS Word, hand cut, with chalked edges.

Only 50% of the entrants from each country's team go forward to the next round, I believe, and so here's holding thumbs .....

Thanks for visiting me today!

I would like to enter my ATC into the following challenges too:

OLDIE BUT GOODIE,  VALENTINE (the string/twine was purchased in 2006, and the heart charm was bought in March 2012)
