I am Proudly South African!
and when it comes to challenges where I need to use my country's flag colours I have a beautiful palette to work with :
so when I needed to create a Guest Designer card for the new Crafting by Designs challenge using my flag's colours in a heritage twist in an Anything Goes theme, I used one of my favourite animal digistamps from Digistamps 4 Joy, called Zebra and created this card :
I applied my 'artistic' licence and found the basic shapes of my flag and started colouring in the same sequence as my flag colours, starting in the top left hand corner. I had no idea where the colours would take me, and totally unplanned was the large area of yellow. I think that bright sunshine yellow dominating the card represents South Africa's sunshine - after all, the adjective often used to describe South Africa is 'sunny'.
The layout of my card comes from a sketch at "Let's Scrap" - I think this CAS layout perfectly showcases the image and gives it pride of place on the card.
The image is Copics/Spectrum Noir/Graphi'It alcohol markers coloured, cut out and mounted on pale printed DP. I created the round sentiment in MS Word and printed it directly onto the DP. A black satin ribbon and bow are the only embellishments.
I think the strong colours and blold image make this a perfect card for a man!
Some heat embossing with clear embossing powder on the eye gives it sparkle:
Does your flag or heritage give you inspiration for a card? Come along and enter a creation at Crafting by Designs this week - Digistamps 4 Joy is the sponsor of the generous prize, and you may just be the winner!
I would like to add my masculine CAS card to the following challenges:
